We want to bring previously untold stories to the big screen
First Take has considerable experience supporting new talent. One of last year’s trainee scriptwriters, Lynette Partington went on to have her short film script chosen for production – she commented:
‘The whole experience was a nurturing and rewarding one which was a big learning curve in terms of stretching myself as a writer’.
arah Hogarth, a former trainee Director of the same project says.
‘My First Take experience was extremely valuable. I was really lucky to work with a crew and cast who, like me, were eager to learn. The production has given me the confidence to put the skills I have gained to the test in my next project’.
This new project begins in the new year with a 7-day filmmaking course for 10 people, specifically concentrating on directing a short film; whilst at the same time a 6-day scriptwriting course with 15 people will run. Five of the short films produced on this course will be made when the two groups come together to start the second part of the project – actually making the short films. By the end of the production, all the participants will have a credit on a short film that will be screened at festivals both nationally and internationally.
